Holy Name School

Holy Name Catholic Elementary School was opened in 1918 by the Redemptorists and Servants of Mary. Today, 250  students, grades preschool through 8th, attend Holy Name. It is a state accredited inner-city grade school and preschool. Over 54% of our students are minority, representing more than 16 cultural heritages. We welcome all religious denominations and 45% of our students are non-Catholic. Currently 78% of our students participate in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. The mission of Holy Name Catholic Elementary School is to educate children of diverse backgrounds to be academically prepared and compassionate toward others. Our goal is to provide children a faith-filled and values-centered education, regardless of income. We provide a free summer breakfast and lunch program federally (U.S.D.A) funded by the Nebraska Dept. of Ed. Nutrition Services (providing over 25,000 free meals each year.)

We supplement the curriculum with grants from various organizations. Target, Best Buy, Blue Cross, Nebraska Arts Council and many other organizations have provided funding for a yearly musical production, multi-media equipment, classroom curriculum supplies and supplementary programs. We collaborate with Alegent Health, UNO Psychology Department, Creighton University OISSE and Creighton Prep to provide services to our students.
